Friday morning…

6:30 am Alarm clock rings. Turn it off. Wake up 30 mins later.

7:00 am Shower. Get dressed. I saw a post in one of my favorite blogs to read, Doodlers Anonymous, where an artist, Gemma Correll draws what she wears everyday. I decided to play along and doodle what I’m going to wear.

You can read more about that post here. Gemma also has a flickr group about that theme here. Really good entries in there. I think I’ll make this a habit :)

The journal: it was given to me by a friend, Curtis Matsko of Vintage Journals. I was perusing their lovely collection of journals made from recycled vintage books and they had a couple of repurposed Steinbeck books (hardcovers!) there. Of course, I was gushing about how much I loved Steinbeck. Curtis was kind enough to give me, “The Pearl”. Creative people are so generous. What they do is 95% love and who can be stingy about that. Anyway, I love this journal. The best part is, Vintage Journals includes some of the pages of the original book along with the blank pages so you can draw on those too. That has always been a guilty pleasure of mine :) Take that, librarians from grade school!

7:30 am Get M up. Get her breakfast ready. Pancakes with sliced bananas and maple syrup this morning. I let her stir the pancake batter. Help M get ready for school. She’s getting really good with those buttons :) My little girl is growing up.

8:30am Drive M to school.

9:00 am Today I’m going to use some Mother’s Day money to go to the salon. I’m about an hour early. Decided to raid the magazine aisle of a nearby bookstore. Grabbed a copy of Juxtapose and Giant Robot and a cinnamon raisin bagel. Ate half of it with coffee in my thermos (I like it black in the morning). Gonna save the other half for later.

10:00 am Decided to get a perm :) Sat quietly while Catrina wrapped my hair, listening to salon gossip and getting a dose of culture from my magazines. Tried not to inhale too much of the chemicals they put in my hair. I told Catrina that the smell was unpleasant but strangely nostalgic, like gasoline. She laughs.

11:00 am Walked out of the salon with bouncier hair. Running through things I have to get done for the day. Product shoot. Emails to send out. Etsy update. I make a mental note not to forget the half eaten bagel in my bag.

Goodmorning :)
