This week I’ve started prototyping stuff for the fall. These are the first pieces I was able to hash out. Brooches are one of my favorite fall accessories. When the weather starts to cool down, you tend to see more lapels and its nice to add some color to those. This summer I designed a bracelet using frosted vintage lucite beads with crocheted elements. You can see that particular bracelet here. I decided to incorporate that design into some cute little brooches (pic above and below). I love how vibrant the colors are and how nice the textures of the vintage lucite and the crocheted beads look together. I’m happy with how these are turning out. I’m thinking of adding more hardware like chains and charms to them though. Anyway, stay tuned for more sneak peeks into fall.

It’s July but my head’s swimming with ideas for the fall and winter. My inspiration for this year’s fall and winter collection comes from my memories of attending gradeschool at a private, all girls school run by nuns. And a big chunk of this experience involved wearing crisp white shirts and plaid skirts, my school uniform. Not short though, 1 inch below the knee, as the nuns would carefully measure and if you fail to comply, you would get the ruler to the hand (or was that for dirty fingernails). Actually, I’ve worn a uniform from kindergarten to my first year in college so I have a lot to draw from. I will be sharing with you bits and pieces of my progress building the upcoming collection based around this theme. What to expect? Oh…. cardigans, collars, lockets, rosaries, brooches…. even socks… I’m so excited! In the meantime, for some comic relief, here’s my senior class photo Enjoy!
